Indonesia has one of the biggest gas field in the world located in Natuna, Riau Island province, Indonesia. The estimated resource of the East Natuna field is around 222 trillion cubic feet while 71% of it is CO2 which is to be around 158 trillion cubic feet. For Most of the cases for high carbon dioxide concentration gas field, oil and gas companies can not justify their cost for production due to high capital and operational cost for CO2 gas processing. Having CO2 output product at high pressure is very demanding to reduce both overall investment cost and operating cost for CO2 injection as also preferable for natural gas storing. Cryogenic CO2 capture process is a physical treatment of CO2 removal process that separate CO2 and hydrocarbon gases with their relative volatility. Physical process tend to be more reliable for abundant amount of gas reserved with high concentration of CO2 , that required no chemical solvent and produce high pressure output. The final result is the CO2 in a high-pressure stream. Cryogenic has some advantage of use for natuna gas processing, including (a)It provides reliable cost than other technology for rich CO2 gas, (b) It doesn’t need additional refrigerant due to high amount of CH4 and CO2 in Natuna, (c) It makes underground storage more viable because of the final high pressure of CO2 output. This paper simulate the cryogenic process from Natuna’s gas field gas composition with ASPEN HYSY-Peng Robinson. This simulation manage to reduce the CO2 concentration from initial value 71% to 3.6% and fully separate heavy hydrocarbon gases(CH3 – CH6) from CO2 . This paper required more complex calculation and simulation, this paper only focus to separate CO2 that doesn’t include the refrigeration cycle and other impurities removal.
